Once the
seams, which join the subunits, have been sewn, use a letter opener to slit open
the folds which enclose fabric within the seams. These skinny strips of paper
can be removed before pressing for a flat block. Of course the rest of the paper
should not be removed until the top has been sewn together. (From: Perfect Blocks)
Gerry
Frost, of Libby, Montana and the Kootenai Quilters Guild, came up with a great
way to crease the patterns' fold lines. She uses a thin serrated dressmaker's
wheel to score the paper. She carefully positions a ruler along the dotted fold
line and then runs the wheel against the ruler. The wheel creases the fold line
exactly, which is crucial. Gerry said this works fantastically, and it does!
